A 25-year-old Bequia fisherman has been charged with murder in connection with the flare gun shooting death of another resident of the northern Grenadine island.

On Tuesday, police charged Zakeem Bess that with malice aforethought he caused the death of Ottley Ollivierre, 31, a fisherman of the same address.

Police are alleging that on Oct. 7, at Paget Farm, Bess shot Ollivierre in the neck with the flare gun.

Ollivierre was hospitalised and died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital last Saturday, Oct. 17.

Bess had already been in police custody, having been charged with attempted murder in connection with the same incident.
