Voters casing ballot in the Nov. 5 general elections in St. Vincent and the Grenadines should wear masks/face coverings while at the polling station, the Health Services Subcommittee of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said on Friday.

Further, all polling station workers and officials will wear face coverings/masks at all times and will regularly sanitise their hands or change their gloves.

NEMO has issued an advisory aimed at ensuring the conduct of the polls in a manner that reduces the risk of the transmission of COVID-19 in the country, although there is currently no evidence of local or community spread.

The advisory further said that voters should maintain at least three feet of spacing while waiting in line to vote.

Hand sanitisation will be implemented before and during the voting process.

Therefore, elector would be required to sanitise their hands before removing their face covering to allow for the verification of their identity.

Hand sanitisation would also be required after the replacement of the face covering after the verification of identity and before the voter dip his or her hand into the indelible ink well after voting.

SVG had recorded 73 COVID-19 cases as of Friday, Oct. 23. Nine of these remain active.

One reply on “Voters advised to wear facemasks at polling stations on election day”

  1. Although ALL major studies (to include the CDC, Center for Disease Control, have concluded that wearing a facemask DOES NOT PROTECT YOU FROM GETTING Covid-19 and in fact INCREASES YOUR RISK of getting sick,…I do not mind wearing a mask when voting, unless I have to stand in line for many hours, I will therefore not wear it while standing in line.
Our government needs to WAKE-UP and institute all that has been learned about the virus since the outbreak. Many governments, to include SVG have not learned anything from all the new information or still are going along with treating us like stupid sheep, directed by power-mad globalists.
We should rather watch out for the new virus Bill Gates has said is on the way, (I wonder how he knows)See this video!
