The COVID-19 case count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines moved up by 62 on Tuesday.
The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said that the 62 new cases are all nationals detected during contact tracing, testing at flu clinics and targeted screening.
“There have now been 464 local cases of COVID-19, the majority of whom are linked to various cluster types including work sites, churches and private parties,” NEMO said.
The country had recorded a total of 602cases of COVID-19.
Two people have died of COVID-19 complications, 119 have recovered and 481 cases remain active.
NEMO said that due to the continued robust contact tracing and active flu clinics, the Molecular Laboratory is still reporting delays in the processing and reporting of results for RT-PCR samples.
“The installation of additional equipment today is expected to significantly reduce the turn around time from testing to results, and so minimize these delays.”
The public is asked to note that the Georgetown Health Centre will continue to offer routine community health services along with COVID-19 services in a separate flu clinic area.
On Monday, NEMO said that Coulls Hill Health Centre, Layou Health Centre, Kingstown Health Centre, Calliaqua Health Centre, Biabou Health Centre, Levi Latham Health Complex, Georgetown Health Centre, and Sandy Bay Health Centre would offer only COVID-19 related services.
As the testing becomes more efficient, and, if that leads to more individuals being tested, expect more results to come back as positive. Those misinformed people will become even more afraid.
