St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on Tuesday, recorded another death due to dengue fever.

The death of a 15-year-old female brings to eight the number of persons to have succumbed to the illness during the current outbreak or the mosquito-borne disease.

The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said that the deceased, who was asthmatic, was admitted to hospital early in January 2021 with acute dengue fever and a severe allergic drug reaction.

“After remaining stable initially, the teenager developed complications one week ago, deteriorated and died today,” NEMO said.

The country has recorded 1,790 laboratory-confirmed cases of dengue fever during the outbreak, which began in 2020.

One reply on “SVG records another dengue death”

  1. Of course, in the Tropics, Dengue is far more deadly than Covid-19, but people are (conditioned, or rather a lack of being conditioned), far less concerned about it. It is so very interesting how successful the scare tactics concerning the Covid-19 virus have been the most successful propaganda in World History. It is certainly futile for those of us that are well-informed concerning the virus, to tell those that are not, to pay more attention to information from the Front-Line workers, doctors and nurses, (that have not been deleted from the internet), to get informed, instead of listening to those HEAVILY-BIASED Fake News outlets and individuals that have a vested interest, (usually monetary) in disinformation.

Certain people should be concerned about Covid-19, but to 99.9% of us, the seasonal flu or a traffic accident is more likely to cause us harm. If vaccines become widely used in SVG, it is certain that those vaccines will cause more harm than the virus itself. I am relieved to find out that most Vincentians know this. Just hope that although we may not be “forced” to take the experimental vaccine, we may be COMPELLED to do so, (which actually means forced).
Not many world leaders are or will be able to resist the pressure to “force” vaccination onto their people. As has been mentioned by the leader of Canada and many others, the virus is the catalyst of the “Great Reset”, which will only benefit a certain 1% and within a few years most of us will be much worse off. We should thank ourselves for this. Those insisting on believing in Fake News, Fake Science and Fake Experts in many fields.
