Commissioner of Police, Colin John has been re-elected to a second term as president of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP).
John was re-elected during the ACCP’s 35th annual general meeting and conference, held virtually May 10 -13 May.
John was first elected as president in 2019.
The theme of the conference was “Working during and Looking Beyond COVID-19, the way Forward for Law Enforcement”.
The goal of the annual general meeting and conference is to support the mission and objectives of the ACCP by fostering regional collaboration and co-operation in the development and implementation of policing strategies, systems and procedures; the development of professional and technical skills of police officers and to identify proactive measures to prevent crime and improve police community relations.
Police chiefs from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States Virgin Islands attended the conference.
Represented at this meeting were members of the executive the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the President of the National Organisation of Black Law Enforcement Executive.
The executive director of the Regional Security System (RSS) and executive director of Crime Stoppers Caribbean and Executive, the police attaché in the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington and the regional manager of the Police Foundation were also in attendance.
International Law Enforcement partners represented included, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Bureau of Diplomatic Security (RSO), ACRO, US Coast Guard, U.S. Marshal Services, Homeland Security, Australia Federal Police, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDITA)

No one else wanted the titular position? FACTS! Commissioner John does not has what is required t fill that position.
It only goes to show who’s guarding the guard ?.

Is he crying? or is he unhappy with himself?
Usually in these meetings there are breakout sessions where the participants break into groups and might deal with current issues in policing, unique cases (using hypothetical situations) and controversial topics such as “political interference in policing in small countries” …(my suggestion at a previous conference that I attended)….. See where I’m going with this?!……lol
I wonder if the re-elected Head of Regional Police Chiefs participated in any such committees at the conference. He should have been able to make a sterling contribution to the discussion on the above topic.
My father use to quote an old Vincentian adage”No better the beef no bettter the barrel” sums it all for that titular position.
Why the Commisioner looks so dissolutioned. Like a battered P…..
The Caribbean has lost its way if this is the best they can come up with as a leader of the regional security. No wonder the countries are in the political and economic doldrums. Oh for the Errol days of Barrow, Eric Williams, John Compton E.T Joshua and the likes. Must be rolling over in their days
