The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is hoping that the arrival of 50,000 doses of the Russian-produced Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine will help with vaccination uptake in the country.

Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said on NBC Radio on Wednesday that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simone Keizer-Beache has informed him that the country had just gotten the first doses of 50,000 Sputnik.

“Some people said they didn’t want AstraZeneca. They’re going tek the Sputnik because the Comrade tek the sputnik,” Gonsalves said, referring to himself by his nickname.

“Well, we go see now. We will see. I’m making every single effort, but take the vaccine,” he said, appealing to a vaccine-hesitant Vincentian public.

“It helps, it reduces markedly, significantly, transmission – you’re transmitting it and you receiving the COVID virus.

“Look, this thing, we have to live with it in the way we have to live with dengue but you have to do all your preparation. But this one is different from dengue in that it is people meeting one another and we’re contracting it,” the prime minister said.

SVG has had to donate thousands of doses of AstraZeneca to avoid spoilage amidst deeply entrenched vaccine hesitancy.

The government said that several persons had said that they would take the Sputnik-V jabs as this is the one that the prime minister and senior officials had taken.

As of July 13, some 25,509 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in SVG. The government had hoped to vaccinate 50,000 people by the end of March 2021.

It is apparent that the Sputnik-V is the safest effective vaccine, and not controlled by a Billionaire that has stated he wants to reduce the World Population with vaccines. The problem is that, in part, for that reason, the Global Establishment seeks to reject this vaccine. It is my opinion that most of these governments do NOT have people’s health in mind. The goal is the vaccines themselves. Ask yourself why that is!
If you are afraid of this virus, and may not have the need to travel (to certain jurisdictions) in the immediate future, I urge you to take this vaccine above all others. Those of us that are not afraid of the virus will have to continue to play the waiting game to see what happens if we do not jump on either vaccine band wagon.

  2. Sputnik-V nah! If it’s that good then why is Russia still # 3 for countries with the most affected people? Russia should have been able to outpace and out class the US who has to import vaccines. Even the US is now seeing an increase because of the new virus, which affects younger folks, who one though they were safe from any virus.
I don’t trust Putin and the Russians and would not take Sputnik-V. Pfizer, Moderna are the safest vaccines. My first was Pfizer and they wanted me to take Moderna for the second shot. I told them HELL NO!
