Two more COVID-19 deaths were recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday, Oct.1.
The deaths are in addition to the five announced on Friday, which occurred between Thursday and Friday, the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said on Saturday.
The deaths bring to 28 the number of people to have succumbed to COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Sixteen of those deaths occurred since Sept. 9.
One of the deceased is a 52-year-old female who tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, Sept. 30, and was referred to the COVID-19 ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
The other, a 47-year-old female, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
Both patients died of COVID- 19 pneumonia and were unvaccinated, NEMO said, but gave no indication of whether they had pre-existing conditions, as it had done in its press statements prior to Friday.
As of Saturday, there were 45 COVID-19 patients receiving care at two healthcare facilities in the country.
Of these, 40 are unvaccinated and five are fully vaccinated.
There are 18 patients admitted for COVID-19 at the Argyle Isolation Facility and 25 admitted to the COVID-19 wards at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
Meanwhile, NEMO said that 113 COVID-19 positive cases were reported from 666 samples processed on Thursday, Sept. 30, resulting in a positivity rate of 17%.
One case was detected on exit screening and all other cases are contacts of known positive cases and people seeking care.
Twenty-two rapid antigen positive results were reported for Thursday.
And, 54 new recoveries were noted over the reporting period, leaving 1,150 active cases.
Since March 2020, SVG has recorded 3,676 cases of COVID-19, of which 2,498 have recovered.
NEMO siad:
“In view of the confirmed presence of the Delta, Mu and Gamma variants in the community and the significant increase in the number of new infections, transmission, severe COVID-19 disease and deaths, strict enforcement and compliance with all protocols and recommendations by everyone is strongly recommended.
“The correct and consistent use of masks, avoidance of crowds, physical distancing, proper hand sanitising and immunisation with available vaccines have all been proven to significantly reduce the risk of being infected, getting sick and or dying from the COVID-19 virus.”
SVG is mandating the Sputnik Russian vaccine while the US have banned anyone from entry to the country if they have been treated with it. They say not just the product but the mode of manufacturing is suspect.
Will that exclude obseso who took the first dose from travel to the US?

Even if you are vaccinated, you can still catch COVID-19. So, in terms of “keeping everyone else safe,” and preventing transmission, what is the difference between being vaccinated and not vaccinated? Is it that you carry a smaller viral load?
Yes, if you are vaccinated you are less likely to catch it, and much less likely to catch it severely so yes, you’ll have a lower viral load. This has two consequences for the general population.
It reduces the number of viruses present in the population. Evolution occurs mainly through a combination of mutations during reproduction followed by natural selection. Viruses can only reproduce by infecting a cell, then forcing that cell to make more copies of the virus, some of which will be slightly incorrect (mutated). The more virus is active inside host cells in the population, the more chances it has to mutate, and potentially produce new strains which can overcome the vaccines, so the unvaccinated are a danger to us all unless they observe strict self-isolation.
It reduces the number of seriously sick COVID-19 patients. The unvaccinated are much more likely to require a hospital stay if they catch COVID-19, and when hospital beds are full of COVID-19 patients, people with strokes, cancer, heart disease, etc cannot get a hospital bed and end up dying needlessly.

These causal statements and questions are not contributing to the education about vaccines in particular and more so to the contributions that have been made in saving human lives up to today. Do some unbiased research, not the ones that are tainted with nonsensical biblical, religious, Christian conspiracies theory, and fallacies about Bill Gates, Dr. Fauci, the Christian Movement, and QAON. Keep religion out of the commentary and focus on saving lives in the community. Be honest with yourselves because this time is surely not the first time in our history that vaccinations were being given and required in as simple as for primary and secondary schools and traveling. I too do not like the idea of being mandated, bullied, being denied the freedom of choice, manipulated, coerced, and being dictated to; however, even in SVG as we can see, more people are dying. We see throughout the Caribbean, the increase in deaths are piling up, in all of the islands too as more people are dying and this is just the beginning of this variant. It will get worse before it gets better.
Yes, there are herbal solutions but not regionally or globally advanced and we do not yet have this clarity, availability, sanctioned, and with standardized formulas, so guess what all we have are vaccines. Worse yet, it might just visit a family member, close friend, your neighbor, a small child, so think people think!!!! These are not the first vaccines and sincerely with the technology they would not certainly be the last. When I make the decision it will be a personal choice of my free will and no religious conspirator or freedom fighter is going to deter with nonsensical chanting. Life is a precious commodity of which we are given one portion so the life you save might just be your own. Do not worry about the FEARS IMPLANTED, RELIGIOUS RIGHTS, YOUR FREEDOMS BEING VIOLATED, PROTESTING, CHANTING, AND FANTASIES.

Notice that they no longer mention if any of these casualties had pre-existing conditions? In the USA a guy jumped from the roof of a 10-floor building. They said he died from Covid. Also note that they go out of their way to say that these people were unvaccinated. Of course the booga booga is working and many are in a rush to get the vaccine. I have known people that got vaccinated and immediately afterwards, are no longer with us today.
