An 8-month-old baby has become the youngest person to die of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Ministry of Health said, on Saturday, that the child, a male, tested positive for COVID-19 on June 24 and was admitted to the Isolation Ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH). 

He died on Thursday, June 30, of COVID-19 pneumonia.

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old female with underlying conditions tested positive for COVID-19 on June 27  and was admitted to the Isolation Ward at MCMC. 

She died on Saturday, July 2, of COVID-19 pneumonia. She was unvaccinated.

The deaths bring to 114 the death toll from COVID-19 in SVG.

    This is a difficult diagnosis did the mother have covid was this child cultured to exclude all the other agents like group B strep that are more lethal at this stage. What other Co morbidities did the child have. I would seriously question this diagnosis.

    What about the parents’ health? do they have it too? how did the baby get it?
