Club to host camps to teach rugby to youths

The SVG Rugby Union Football Club is conducting a Youth Rugby Camp during August in an effort to increase awareness and interest in rugby in St. Vincent.

The camp will feature four one-week sessions in the following communities: Calliaqua (Aug. 5-9), Cane End (Aug. 12-16); Georgetown (Aug. 19 to 23); Buccament Bay (Aug. 26-30).

Each camp cost $10 per child for the week and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

Participants are provided with juice and a snack each day.

The aim is to offer an opportunity for the youths of St. Vincent to learn something new.

The camp will teach youth the skills and techniques pertaining to rugby as well as important life skills, including responsibility, honesty, integrity, and leadership.

At the conclusion of the month, there will be a Tournament/Fun Day, which will bring youth from the four camps together with the SVG National Rugby Team to compete in tag rugby and have fun.

The Tournament/Fun Day will take place Aug. 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
