The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will be staged this Friday. From 8:30 a.m., over 60 police officers will run with and relay the Torch from Rabacca, along the Windward Highway and into Kingstown, culminating at Victoria Park, at 4:30 p.m., to facilitate the opening ceremony of the local Special Olympics Games.
The Torch Run is internationally the largest grassroot fundraising event, for Special Olympics. It also raises awareness for persons with intellectual disabilities. Funds raised through the Torch Run are used to assist Special Olympics Teams to participate in local and regional games and in particular, the Special Olympics World Summer Games.
The Police Force is encouraging the public to come out along the route of the Run on Friday, and support the event with their donations.
