ST. JOHN’S, Antigua– Regional airline LIAT is partnering with the Guyana Government through the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) to provide special fares to the 13th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development to be held in the South American country from April 15-19.
In January the GTA approached LIAT requesting the airline partner with them to take conference attendees to and from Guyana. It is expected that some 250 delegates, including Ministers of Tourism, government officials, travel industry suppliers, travel agents, and media personnel will converge on Guyana for the conference.
“LIAT has for many years provided reliable air transport services into Guyana for locals and visitors alike and it was natural for us to partner with them for the Sustainable Tourism Conference,” LIAT’s Network Sales Manager Hanif Walcott said in a statement.
“In addition to offering special fares for the attendees that will be travelling from various destinations, we will be providing support throughout the entire conference, by way of a support desk.”
The annual Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) conference will be held at the Guyana International Conference Centre under the theme – Keeping the Right Balance, Sustaining our Resources.
Guyana, one of LIAT’s 21 destinations, has become a key player in the reduction of global greenhouse gas emissions which significantly contribute to climate change. The country has been recognized internationally for its biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management and climate change adaptation efforts.
