KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – This country has recorded it second homicide in as many days.

Reports reaching I-Witness News indicate that a woman was shot and killed by an intruder into her home in the Prospect/Belvedere area during the predawn hours of Sunday.

A local law enforcement agency spoke of the killing in a post on the social networking website, Facebook but did not mention the name of the dead woman.

The lawman said he was withholding the name until he could confirm that the woman’s relatives, who are overseas, had been notified.

Vincentian journalist Rochelle Baptiste, in a separate post on Facebook, identified the woman as Jennifer Lewis, a 46-year-old teacher.

The killing came on the heel of another Friday night in Vermont, that left 47-year-old Cally Joseph’s two children — a 6-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl — fatherless, two days before Father’s Day.

A house in the area shows the imprints of what appears to be impact marks of shotgun pellets.

Source tell I-Witness News that residents of the South Leeward community said they heard two different types of gunshots, suggesting that there was more than one assailant or that more than one firearm was used.

Earlier reports also say that the man was shot eight times.

“It seems like they really meant to kill him,” said one source that spoke on condition of anonymity, adding that police have questioned a close relative of the slain man in connection with the crime.

It was not immediately clear if police — who are might issue a bulletin on Monday — consider that relative a suspect in Joseph’s death.

The killing of the woman on Sunday is the second such homicide in the last six months.

An intruder killed dental technician Ewart “Ells” King at his Pembroke home on Dec. 3.

The murderer is suspected to be escaped prisoner Godwin Moses who police shot and killed later that month.

Police say that Moses had King’s licenced firearm at the time of his death.
