KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) has defended its decision to continue to use a company from Barbados to provide lighting at Vincy Mas shows.

APS Sales and Lighting will provide lighting at the CDC’s Vincy Mas 2012 shows, the fifth or sixth year that firm has been doing so, Chief Executive Officer Ashford Wood of the CDC, Ashford Wood told I-Witness News on Monday.

The Barbadian company has once again been awarded the contract but Wood acknowledged that local companies have been developing their lighting systems.

“To begin with, we have been using this company for the past five, six years. We have not had a problem with them,” Wood told I-Witness News.

“We know there are one or two local companies that have been developing their lighting system and when they make the necessary representation and we think we are comfortable with them, we will give them the necessary consideration.

“But until such time, we prefer to use the company that we have been using for the past five, six years, and with whom we are most comfortable,” the CDC executive further said.
