KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, Feb. 28 — A man who was unable to pay an EC$500 fine for a bunch of grindy he and four other men stole, was jailed for six months.
The Police Public Relations & Complaints Deptment said in a release on Tuesday that on Feb. 21 five men pleaded guilty to stealing the fruit, the property of 65-year-old Joel Alvis, at Fergusson Mountain,.
Nolly Sutherland of Byera, and Elliott Burke, Westwick Williams, Andrew Williams, and Dwight Browne of Georgetown were each fined $500 for the crime when they appeared before Magistrate Rickie Burnette.
The men, with the exception of Andrew Williams, paid the EC$500 fine forthwith. He was sent to jail for six months.
