Chief Executive Officer of St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC), Thornley Myers, has been elected chairman of the Caribbean Electric Utilities Service Corporation (CARILEC).

He was elected at the annual meeting in Jamaica of the association, which comprises electric utilities and suppliers across the region.

Myers took over from CEO of Barbados Light and Power Holdings, Peter Williams, and will serve for two years.

The executive has been involved in the electricity industry for more than 20 years and was recently appointed to head the Cabinet committee established to implement the PetroCaribe Energy Agreement.
