Carnival Development Corporation’s Beauty Shows Committee said in a release on Monday that the pageant will be held under the theme “Empowering Women Through Pageantry”.
The show, which is an important aspect of Antigua and Barbuda’s carnival celebrations, will be held in two phases: a pre-show on July 31 at the Dean William Lake Cultural Center and the main show on Aug. 2, at carnival city, St John’s.
There will be an elimination process. The top 10 contestants will be selected from the pre-show, where judging will take place in interview, swimwear and eveningwear.
There will be further eliminations during the main show, which will include all four categories: talent, swimwear, eveningwear and interview.
The winner, first runner-up and second runner-up will be announced on the night of Aug. 2.
The interview segment will be under the tag line “Breaking The Silence” — to highlight child abuse.
The PKB Bank Ltd. is offering EC$1,000 in cash to the winner in the interview segment.
George and Baptiste will return to St. Vincent on Aug. 3
