History offers a clear verdict: governments that respect the will of their people are more prosperous, more stable and more successful than governments that do not.

Democracy is about more than holding elections — it’s also about what happens between them.

Repression takes many forms, and too many nations are plagued by problems that condemn their people to poverty.

No country is going to create wealth if some of its leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves, or police and judiciary can be controlled by politicians.

No foreign investor wants to invest in a place where members of government are Marxists.

No foreign investor wants to invest in a place where large sections of the electorate are bribed to vote for a Marxist led government.

No person wants to live in a society where the rule of law gives way to the rule of brutality and beatings by the police. That is not democracy that is tyranny, and now is the time for it to end.

Make no mistake: history is on the side of brave and moral Vincentians — those in the judiciary, police, and in any other position of knowledge to blow the whistle on wrongdoing, to blow the whistle on corruption. SVG doesn’t need strongmen; it needs strong institutions.

People should have the right to run a business, knowing if they sell or trade with the government they will be paid. People should have the right to get a higher education without having to consult a politician. People should have the right to work and study without being a party member of the ruling political party. People should have the right to sell their land or property to the government and know they are going to be paid promptly at a current market valuation. People should have the right to live a peaceful life without political hate, spite, and malice being applied to them. People should have the right to vote or support whatever political party they wish, without being penalized and punished by the ruling party. People should have the right to know that they are being led by decent people, truthful people, people who are not serial liars.

We have a responsibility to support those who act responsibly and to isolate those who don’t.

For the sake of tourism and investment, the Caribbean must be seen to be made up of serious minded countries committed to democracy, rule of law, protection of human rights, peace, stability and the will to fight against corruption and poverty. It’s time to remove the pretence of doing these things by some Caribbean leaders, whilst doing the opposite. Its time to dump all the old politics based on Marxism and the cloaked evil of “modern socialism,” which is simply a dressed up name for communism.

A GOVERNMENT THAT RESPECTS THE WILL OF THEIR PEOPLE WILL BE MORE PROPEROUS, MORE STABLE AND MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN GOVERNMENTS THAT DO NOT.

  1. You don’t have anything better to do with your time other than to come on here and spread your ignorance and show the world how stupid you are? What WILL of the people? The WILL of Vincentian people is to have ULP in power. Democracy is MAJORITY WINS AND RULES. So you and your handful of fools in the ndp need to stop allowing hate and greed have all yo so blasted DOTISH! You all are an embarrassment to the island.

  2. Now! Now! JASON, I know that the truth annoys you Marxist supporters, it even annoys non-Marxist supporters who are idiots.

So stop stamping your feet and try and grasp the truth, because the truth is the way and the light and could be your salvation. So stop being a silly Billy, wait until you get a little more mature before returning with the big boys.

Its very obvious to all who read what you said that you are so shallow and ignorant that you attacked me, instead of making comment and putting forward an argument about the content of what I wrote. A sure sign of immaturity and plain silliness.

  3. Steve Huggins says:

Yes, “Jason”, let us have the TYRANNY OF THE “MAJORITY”.

I guess that pleases you. No matter the irreparable damage to HAIROUNA, SVG.

    BUT, ‘ majority ‘?

Let’s take it this way. In ’round” figures.

About 65 % of the Vincentian electorate voted.

About 35 % of the Vincentian people, eligible electors, choose not to vote. They did not elect to put political power in the hands of the politicians who offered to run.

About HALF of that 65 % who voted, approximately 30 % of the overall electorate, VOTED FOR THE New Democratic Party.

About 5 % of the overall electorate spoilt their votes, wittingly or unwittingly, and / or had their ballots otherwise rejected.

ONLY about 30 % of the overall electorate in SVG actually voted for the Unity Labour Party.

Yes, only approximately 30 % “voted for Ralph”.

    A MAJORITY?

    30 % is now a MAJORITY of 100 % ?

Ralph’s ULP has a MAJORITY with a mere 30 % of the SVG Electorate?

Probably not even one-third of the Vincentian Electorate.

Plus, the people of SVG rebuked and repudiated the […] profligate, Castro-worshipping Ralph Gonsalves ULP administration, the remnant of the YOULIMO-MNU infiltrated SVLP, by dramatically reducing their political grip on several of their seats.

The SVG electorate reduced the ULP count to a VERY SLIM one-seat lead in the SVG parliament.

THAT, after delivering A SOLID POLITICAL DEFEAT to Gonsalves and his one-manist ULP in the recent referendum

    A “majority”, you say?

    Well . . . .

Or a premonitive SIGN of the last days of a decadent, clueless, corrupt political regime?

    Your pick, Jason.

I am sure that you STILL have on your ARC WELDING GOGGLES, with this page/screen turned UPSIDE DOWN.

Fete yourself, bro. Your are, indeed, a TRUE BELIEVER.

Don’t let the facts bother you.

    Wallow in self-delusion.
