Two men will know their fate when they re-appear in court today, Tuesday, having been arrested and charged last week for drug crimes

Jamal Grant and Lenny James were charged jointly with possessing 6,178 grammes of cannabis with intent to supply to another and possessing 6,178 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of drug-trafficking last Thursday, Oct. 31.

Both men appeared before the Serious Offences Court yesterday, Monday.

Grant pleaded not guilty to the charges while James pleaded guilty.

When asked by Chief Magistrate Sonya Young how he was proceeding, in light of the fact that one of the defendants had pleaded guilty, prosecutor Carl Williams said that with respect to Grant, he had to seek instructions from Director of Public Prosecutions Colin Williams.

He said that he accepted James’ guilty plea.

On the question of bail, the prosecutor said he had no objection.

As a result of what the prosecutor said, the Chief Magistrate adjourned the matter to today pending a report from the prosecution and for possible sentencing of James.

Both men were each granted bail in the sum of $7,000 with one surety each in the like sum.
