The Vincentian public will can from free eye diabetic screening and pressure checks at Eye Focus Inc, on the second floor of the Hinds Building, on Thursday, Nov. 14, which is World Diabetes Day and on Nov. 29, the day of Eye Focus Inc.’s diabetes fair.

“Diabetes is one of the biggest challenges facing health services today and it is important that anyone who is at risk visit their doctor for a glucose blood test because there are not always symptoms present,” optometrist Dr. Simone Harris of Eye Focus Inc. said.

On Thursday Eye Focus Inc., in partnership with Digicel, Coreas Hazells Pharmacy, and The Community Nursing Service, will collaborate to raise awareness about diabetes in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Through a donation from Coreas Hazels Inc., blood sugar checks will be conducted between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Diabetic retinopathy screening will be done in stages, 10 persons at a time, at the following times: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

Five persons will be screened at 4:30 p.m. All persons will be entered in a prize draw for Nov. at The Eye Focus Diabetes Fair and three persons, the compliments Digicel, will be entitled to a fully paid optical examination inclusive of medication and eyewear.

Coreas Hazells will also be providing product samples and pressure check kits. The community nursing service will also be on hand to lend support.
