A contingent of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Young Democrats visited Sandy Bay in the North Windward Constituency earlier this month, where they conducted a house-to-house campaign with NDP candidate for North Windward, Lauron Baptiste.
President of the Young Democrats, Nick Francis, said event as a success, explaining that the youths were well received by residents and spoke on several issues affecting the nation including the economy, unemployment and the increase in crime and violence.
Plans are also in place to conduct membership drives and house-to-house campaigns in several constituencies in the weeks to come, the Young Democrats said in a release.
“The Youth Arm of the New Democratic Party continues its mission of empowering youths in all communities to engage in the decision making process and to speak on issues affecting the youth population in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
“The Young Democrats encourages all young persons who are eligible to vote to get registered and support the New Democratic Party in the next general elections, constitutionally due in 2015,” the group further said.
