The prize giving ceremony for the 2013 Nine Mornings Festival is scheduled to take place this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Peace Memorial Hall.
At the ceremony, prizes will be distributed to the various zonal and national winners in the VINLEC Community Lighting Competition, the best lit garden and best lit private house. There will also be much announcements of the winners of the following categories:
1. Best Nine Mornings Community
2. Best Christmas Community
3. Best 100 Years Theme
4. Best Community on Parade
5. Best Local Christmas Song
The SVG Nine Mornings Committee will also honour nine outstanding individuals, businesses and communities for their contributions to the development of the Nine Mornings Festival over the years.
In last year’s festivities, Point Village took the major title with Jimmy Samuel of Rillan Hill winning the Best-Lit Private House and the Richmond Gardens, the Best-Lit Garden.
Addresses will come from Minister of Culture, Cecil McKie, and representatives of the major sponsors, the National Lottery Authority and VINLEC. The SVG Nine Mornings Committee has hailed the 2013 celebrations as a success with good programmes and large attendances by the public around the country.
Nine Mornings in St. Vincent & the Grenadines was celebrated from Dec. 16 to 24 under the theme “Celebrating 100 years of a unique Vincentian Tradition”.
