The Governor General’s Deputy, Dame Monica Dacon, is “tired”, prompting Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne to appoint retired public servant Susan Dougan as his deputy, temporarily.
Dougan has acted twice this year as the Governor General’s Deputy.
“… I think this is the second stint that His Excellence has appointed Miss Dougan as his deputy,” Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves told the media this week of the 80-year-old Dacon when asked about her status.
“He (the GG) advised me that the Governor General’s Deputy, Miss Monica Dacon, who has served with dignity and distinction — she is an extraordinary woman, human being — that she was feeling a bit tired.
“I have to go to see here myself. I haven’t seen her yet; I am hoping I can get an appointment this week to go to her house to see her,” Gonsalves said.
