The bypass around the section of the Windward Highway that began to sink last week opened on Wednesday, one day ahead of schedule.
Cracks began to appear in the road just outside the Argyle International Airport construction site on Friday.
The road has deteriorated continuously since then.
Work crews began to build the asphalt bypass on Sunday.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Work, Sen. Julian Francis, said then that he anticipated that the bypass would have been completed by today, Thursday.
However, the road was opened to traffic mid-morning Wednesday.
While the bypass was being built, traffic was rerouted onto roads in the interior of the country.
During that time, a truck went off the road and onto a house, and there was a multi-vehicle pile-up on the diversion.
Harry FitzHerbert, a resident of the Argyle area, in an email to I-Witness News, congratulated the state and workers on the completion of the bypass.
“Congratulations and thanks to Minister Francis plus all the hard working Argyle airport employees for putting in a well built, quality bypass a day early at the road subsidance location. A good news story that proves things can get done promptly where there is a will,” FitzHerbert wrote.
That photo of the broken up Argyle road speaks volumes about the fraud involved in construction of that road and likely other Government projects.
This bypass road looks good. Big up to the hard working crew whose working on this project. Hard work really pays off. I am of the opinion Senator Francis, is the most proactive minister to every be assigned to the ministry of Transport &Works. This man is a workaholic. Where did he got this energy from? The man is always on the move. He is very reliable. This is how it should be in every department in government pulling our weight to get things done. A better SVG is what matters in the end.
“Ahead of schedule,” “behind schedule” — same difference. Nothing the government does in SVG is ever “on schedule.”
That bypass will need a bypass soon from the looks of it…
It has nothing to do with the government. Focus on the bigger picture!

Well I guess painting the Yellow lane separation line in the center of the road wasn’t on the schedule.
