A 4-year-old girl died Monday afternoon, some time after being involved in an incident involving a minivan in eastern St. Vincent, police have confirmed.

“Preliminary investigations claim Makayla Abbott, a four-year-old girl, was involved in an accident with a mini-bus about 1:40 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital at 2:05 p.m.,” the Police Public Relations Department said in a statement.

The statement said a post mortem examination will be conducted on the body of the infant.

There have been six fatal road accidents for 2015, which have resulted in 12 deaths, according to police statistics.
