Prison authorities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are allowing visits to the nation’s correctional facilities, “in keeping with the spirit of Christmas, and in an effort to promote good morale among the inmates”.
Visits to inmates at Her Majesty’s Prisons in Kingstown and Belle Isle have resumed.
Each inmate will receive one visit per week not exceeding 15 minutes and no more than three people will be allowed to visit an inmate at the same time.
Visits are by appointment only, and some valid form of identification must be presented.
Strict COVID-19 protocols will be in place, prison authorities said in a press release.
Further, from Dec. 15 to Jan. 1, inmates at both facilities will be allowed snacks and fast-food items from their relatives and friends on weekdays only, between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
These fast-food items can include Subway, KFC, rotis, etc.
On Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., home-cooked meals, including cake, will be accepted along with non-alcoholic beverages (malts, sodas, etc). No homemade beverages will be accepted.
