Police have launched an investigation into the discovery of the partially decomposed body of a 73-year-old man on Thomas Island, an island just outside of Clifton Harbour, Union Island.

Police said on Thursday that the body was discovered by a sea captain about 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The deceased was later identified as Russell Douglas, of Union Island.

The body was transported to the Kingstown Mortuary and post mortem examination will be conducted on the body to ascertain the cause of death.

“Members of the public who have information that can assist with the investigation are encouraged to contact the Officer in charge of the Grenadines Division at 1-784- 457-1211 ext. 4881, or call 999/911. All calls will be treated confidentially. Investigations are ongoing,” police said.
