Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found on the beach in Orange Hill today (Thursday).
The man’s family has identified him as Doxford Lavia aka Beef, originally of Sandy Bay.
iWitness News understands that foul play is not suspected in the death but an autopsy would be conducted to help guide the investigation.
Some people who knew Lavia well described him as “mentally unstable” but iWitness News was unable to find out whether he was ever diagnosed as mentally ill.
Other residents of the area said that Lavia had “some strange behaviour” and drank a lot.
