The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) has announced extended rationing of water from its Dalaway and Montreal sources and the commencement of rationing from the Majorca supply.
The municipal water supplier said it had observed a reduction in river flows and by extension, the volume of water available for harvesting from three of its major water sources: Dalaway, Montreal and Majorca.
Water rationing schedules were already in effect for communities supplied from the Dalaway and Montreal sources.
“… we wish to inform that rationing has become necessary for more communities supplied from the Dalaway Water Source, commencing today, Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.”
The schedule will continue daily until conditions improve, the CWSA said.
Additionally, communities being supplied from the Majorca water source will see rationing commencing from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and will continue daily until further notice.
The rationing schedule for the communities supplied by the Montreal system — from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — remains in effect.
The CWSA said its technical teams continue “to work around the clock to monitor the water sources and implement the most practical measures to ensure that ALL of our valued customers receive an adequate supply of water”
The CSWA is further asking the public to continue reporting all leaks and incidents of water wastage, including the abuse of public standpipes, washing of vehicles with hoses, and watering of plants.
