Two people are confirmed to have died in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a result of the passage of Hurricane Beryl, acting Commissioner of Police Enville Williams says.

He told the media around 1 p.m. Wednesday that this was the latest information that he had.

“One occurred on Bequia and one on Union [Island],” he told the media as he fielded questions at the Cruise Ship Terminal, in Kingstown.

“The one in Bequia, I am not fully apprised of it. The one in Union Island, the gentleman went to the health centre and indicated that a piece of board flew from his house and hit him somewhere in the neck area,” the police chief said.

“And while he was coming up for treatment yesterday — because we sent the Coast Guard to do medevac, he died at the hospital, I believe, when he got there.”
