The unknown gunman who tried to kill another man around noon in Kingstown on Tuesday fired about 10 shots at his victim, iWitness News was reliably informed.

Police did not identify the target of the Rose Place shooting in a press release issued a day later.

However, iWitness News was reliably informed that he is Enrico Johnny, a 35-year-old vendor, of Ottley Hall who has served prison time for firearm and ammunition.

Sources further told iWitness News that the shooter was wearing a high visibility vest and a mask that made him look like a construction or utilities worker.

The shooting took place near the Rubis Gas Station around 11:50 a.m.

“The RSVGPF remains vigilant in its efforts to address gun-related offences and encourages the public to report suspicious activities involving firearms,” police said in a statement.

The murder attempt came about 18 hours after Jarvis Horne aka “Smadd Dan”, 28, of Fairbaine Pasture, was gunned down in another section of Rose Place.

In January 2008, Johnny, then 18, was jailed for two years for possession of a .22 revolver and for six months for possession of four rounds of .22 ammunition without a licence under the Firearms Act.

Members of the Special Services Unit had been on patrol in Ottley Hall when they saw Johnny and other men at the side of the road.

The officers found the firearm in Johnny’s waist.
