Police have charged a Lower Questelles man in connection with 5,539 grams (5.5 kgs) of cocaine found in Stoney Ground on Feb. 6.

Officers from the Narcotics Unit and Special Services Unit conducted an operation in the Kingstown suburb, resulting in the discovery of the drug.

Following further investigations, Hollis Young, a 36-year-old fisherman, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with possession of a controlled drug, with intent to supply it to another; and possession of a controlled drug, for the purpose of drug trafficking.

Young appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty.

His matter was adjourned to Thursday, and Young maintained his plea during that hearing.

The case has been further adjourned to Monday.

Young was granted EC$10,000 with one surety and was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the Questelles Police Station on Mondays.

In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations and Complaint Department that police continue to make it resoundingly clear that those who engage in the illegal narcotics trade will be caught, and they will face the full force of the law.

“This operation stands as yet another reminder that the police remain vigilant, strategic, and relentless in the fight against illegal drug activities…

The RSVGPF will not relent in its duty to enforce the law and safeguard the citizens, residents and visitors across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”
