The sixth edition of the Dream 11 Vincy Premier League (VPL) T10 is set for April 7 – 20. The tournament finals will be played under lights at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
The champions of this edition will win EC$50,000, with second place getting EC$20,000. “This not only marks the highest-ever prize money for cricket in St. Vincent and the Grenadines but also sets a new benchmark throughout the Windward Islands,” a press release sad.
The theme for the upcoming edition is “Lit Vibes!”
On Monday, the VPL players’ draft was hosted at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, with the six franchises were represented by coaches, managers, and captains.
Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the draft, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association (SVGCA) president Dougal James and SVGCA first vice president Kaschaka Cupid expressed their excitement about the upcoming tournament.
Cricket West Indies President, Kishore Shallow also brought remarks, enlightening the gathering about the evolution of the VPL over the five years since its inception.
Shallow also recognised the contributions of the late Irvin Warrican and Dyke Cato.
VPL 6 will feature over 18 overseas players, including international cricketers Carlos Brathwaite, Andre Fletcher, Ashley Nurse, Jonathan Carter, and Shamar Springer, showcasing the global appeal of the tournament.
Vincentians international cricketers Obed McCoy, Sunil Ambris, and Kesrick Williams will also be marquee players in the tournament.
Vincy Premier League is a 10-overs tournament hosted in St. Vincent and the Grenadines by its national cricket association. The tournament was the first cricket event on the global calendar during the pandemic.
