The third edition of the F15 Softball Cricket Tournament bowled off on Saturday at the Richmond Hill Playing Field with an 5-over ballaroma following the formalities.

The opening ceremony heard speeches from tournament president Wasem Dunbar and East Kingstown MP Fitz Bramble. 

Fairban United were adjudged the best-dressed team in the march pass, with their full complement of players, banners, and hats and glasses to compliment their uniforms, impressing the judges.

The team proved that they could play as well as they could dress, winning the 5-over ballaroma also. 

The tournament began in earnest on Sunday with two matches.

 In the first match, Dr. Thomas Injectors defeated Automax Richmond Hill United by 67 runs.

Batting first, Dr. Thomas Injectors posted 134-5 in 15 overs, with Travis Cumberbatch top-scoring with 49 runs not, 3 more than Kentish Phillips. 

Bowling for Automax Richmond Hill United, Johnny Trimmingham took 2 wickets for 18 runs in 2 overs and Maxbert Welcome took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 2 overs. 

Automax Richmond Hill United went on to make 67-9 in 15 overs,  with Rohan Ash top-scoring with 20 runs. 

Bowling for Dr. Thomas Injectors, Kentish Phillips took 3 wickets for 15 runs in 2 overs,  Asmon Forbes took 2 wickets for 5 runs in 3 overs and Wayne Garraway took 2 wickets for 7 runs in 3 overs.

In the second match, BoSVG All Stars defeated Valley Boys by 33 runs.  BoSVG All Stars won the toss and batted first, posting 99-5 in 15 overs.  

Glenroy Dasent top scored with 25 runs while Godwin John made 21.  

In Valley Boys’ bowling Randolph Bascombe took 1 wicket for 10 runs in 2 overs and Kenneth Wilson took 1 wicket for 12 runs in 2 overs.  

Valley Boys went on and scored 66 all out in 12.3 overs. Ashley Frederick top scored with 19 runs. 

Bowling for, BOSVG All Stars, Kelly Murray took 3 wickets for 6 runs in 2.3 overs and Courtney McDowell took 2 wickets for 15 runs in 3 overs.

The organisers are promising an electrifying tournament and are urging cricket lovers to attend the games on Saturdays at 1 p.m. and Sundays 12:30 p.m.at the Richmond Hill Playing Field. 

During Saturday’s opening ceremony, Dunbar said that organising thetournament had come with its fair share of challenges.

“…  but through determination, teamwork, and an unwavering love for the sport, we have persevered,” he said, adding that this year’s tournament promises to be one of greatness. 

“The level of competition is higher, the energy is unmatched, and the excitement is undeniable. We have talented teams ready to showcase their skills, fans eager to cheer them on, and a community united by the spirit of cricket,” he said. 

“To all the teams participating—welcome! Your dedication and sportsmanship are the heart of this tournament. Play hard, play fair, and most importantly, enjoy the game,” Dunbar said.
