The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) says it plans to make this year’s Junior Carnival a fun fiesta and is working with Carnival Bands Incorporated (CBI) “to see how we can make this product one that is very attractive, not only for the kids but for the entire family”.

CEO of the CDC, Rodney Small, said that “Carnival City”, Victoria Park will be transformed into “an entire Coney Island” for the event.

“We’re going to create that atmosphere right here in Victoria Park,” Small said, adding that the CDC had started conversations with service providers who have bouncing castles and different games.

“And we’re going to flood this place and make it look like a Coney Island, but paying very close attention to the mas presentation,” Small said.

“It’s going to be a production for the kids. It’s going to be something that we want persons to look forward to and appreciate the craftsmanship of our mas builders.”

Meanwhile, Small said that Junior Calypso will be held at Victoria Park on July 2 and will be dubbed “Big Voices, Great Vibes”.

Small said the show will now start at 4 p.m., rather than the usual 2 p.m. so that parents can attend without having to miss work.

He said the CDC will be organising community tours with all of the finalists in the competition.

“We’re taking them to their community so persons can support them and actually get to see them perform their 2025 songs. So all of the finalists, we are doing a caravan and taking them throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, mainly to the community that they’re from,” Small said.

Meanwhile, Small said that the Youlou Pan Movement has decided to have Junior Panorama and Steel and Glitter on the same day.

“So we have a full day of pan and mas presentation,” Small said, adding that Junior Pan would still run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Steel and Glitter will then start at 8 p.m.

“So we basically have a one-hour window where we can put some elements inside there. So I’m encouraging the entire family to come out,” he said.

Small, however, said there will be different tickets for Junior Panorama and Steel and Glitter and that tickets from one segment at the show would not be accepted of the show would not be accepted at the other.

The CDC chief said that he would save for another time the details about “Evo: A Night into the Clouds”.
