Police have arrested a male and launched a homicide investigation after he told them that he had chopped his father to death.
iWitness News was reliably informed that the son, whose age has not been disclosed, went to the Central Police Station around 10 p.m. Wednesday with what appeared to be blood on his clothing.
He told officers that he had chopped up his father and that he had died.
Multiple units of the police force were mobilised, and the suspect took them to a house in Gibson Corner.
When officers entered the wooden home, they discovered the body of a male with what appeared to be chop wounds, including to the head.
This is the second case of alleged patricide in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in less than a week.
The Gibson Corner incident comes even as Alonzo Corridon, 28, of Yambou, is slated to appear in court later on Thursday, charged in connection with the death of his father, which occurred on Friday, a well-placed source has told iWitness News.
In an earlier statement, police had said that a close relative of Don Jackson, a 60-year-old farmer, of Yambou, was in custody in connection with his death.
Jackson died after he was allegedly struck during an altercation between his sons.
Police said that around 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jackson’s sons were involved in a family dispute.
Jackson reportedly intervened and was struck with an object to the side of his face.
He was transported to the Levi Latham Health Centre, in Mesopotamia, where he later died.
