On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, Rubis made a charitable donation to the Garden of Eden, a home for the elderly, as part of its ongoing community support initiatives.

The donation comprised essential supplies aimed at supporting the daily needs and overall wellbeing of the residents.

The donation included toiletries, disposable diapers, hand sanitizers, cleaning products, body creams, deodorants, and a variety of food items such as sugar, milk, cooking oil, rice, and other basic necessities.

Rubis Account Executive, Elroy Edwards said that assessments indicate that many elderly homes in St. Vincent continue to face funding constraints, which can impact the level of care provided to residents.

He noted that this donation was made to help ease some of these challenges and provide meaningful support to both the institution and its residents.

Edwards further emphasized that Christmas is a time for demonstrating love, care, and compassion, particularly as many elderly individuals experience increased loneliness and isolation during the holiday season.

Beyond material support, spending quality time and ensuring residents feel included, valued, and cherished makes Christmas an especially meaningful time for such initiatives, Edwards said.

In addition to the donation of essential items, Rubis staff members visited the home and engage with the residents.

Staff interacted with the elderly and participated in games, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere and bringing smiles to the residents’ faces.

Christiana Davis, manager of the Garden of Eden, expressed appreciation for the donation and the visit from the Rubis team.

“This contribution will go a long way in supporting our daily operations and improving the comfort and wellbeing of our residents. We are especially grateful that the Rubis team took the time to visit, interact with our residents, and bring joy during the Christmas season. Initiatives like this make a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate Rubis’ continued dedication to giving back to the citizens of St. Vincent,” she said.

Over the past 10 years, Rubis has consistently distributed food baskets to vulnerable individuals and the elderly across various communities during the Christmas season, reinforcing its long-standing tradition of community support, a press release said.
