One person was killed and two others remain in the hospital after a minivan went over an embankment in Overland on Thursday.
Dead is Mary Bracken, a 74- year-old domestic, of Sandy Bay.
Police had initially said that two people died in the accident, but later said that the number was actually one.
The accident occurred about 5:20 p.m. in the corner just before the Bailey bridge at Overland heading towards Sandy Bay.
The white Toyota Hiace van registration H8860 went over an embankment.
Police said that 18 passengers were in the vehicle, in addition to the driver and conductor.
The vehicle usually transports students from Fancy and Owia to Georgetown Secondary School.
However, iWitness News understands that the driver of the van that transported the students was not at the wheel at the time of the accident.
Police said their investigation into the accident is continuing.
