Former national footballer Keith James was shot and killed in Cailliaqua on Friday night, nine days before his 38th birthday.
Police are still processing the scene where James died near the Anglican Church in the south coast town.
Initial reports are that James had just returned home when he was shot and killed after exiting a vehicle.
Residents have speculated that the killer might have been waiting for James as a dark-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shooting.
James’ death brings the homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year to 14 and is the fourth shooting death in the country in less than a month.
In addition to playing for the Men’s Senior National Football team, James also played for Avenues United.
