Jeremiah Samuel, the 24-year-old Rose Hall man who kidnapped and killed a 1-year-old baby in the North Leeward community on Feb. 10, 2024, has to spend a further 19 years, 9 months and 6 days in prison.
Justice Rickie Burnett sentenced Samuel at the High Court in Kingstown earlier on Friday on charges of manslaughter and kidnapping in relation to the death of the baby girl, Janae Samuel-Wright.
Samuel was also sentenced to 4 years, 1 month, and 7 days in prison for kidnapping the infant.
However, he will only serve the longer of the sentences, which run concurrently.
The sentences will run concurrently.
Samuel had an undiagnosed mental disorder when he killed the child, one of his relatives.
