A teacher was killed Saturday night after she was pinned by the door of a vehicle that began rolling backwards after she returned to it to retrieve an item.

The dead teacher has been identified as Sherefa Clouden Gonsalves, 34, of Richmond Hill, who was a lecturer at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

Police are yet to comment on the incident. However, iWitness News was reliably informed that Clouden Gonsalves and a close relative had travelled home in the vehicle shortly before tragedy struck.

Reports indicate that Clouden Gonsalves’ relative parked the Toyota Hilux on an incline, and they both exited the vehicle.

Clouden Gonsalves later realised that she had forgotten something in the vehicle and returned to retrieve it.

As she was doing so, the vehicle began to roll backwards, pinning Clouden Gonsalves between it and the door.

The vehicle came to a stop after crashing into a nearby building.
