The H2O Lions Swim Club say its athletes performed superbly at the SVG Gallagher National Swim Championships, at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre from Aug. 27–30. Swimmers recorded a substantial increase in medal counts across the various age groups and secured a third-place team finish in the highly competitive championship.
Throughout the four days of competition, all swimmers improved their personal best times and many earned podium finishes.
Calique Grant secured a third-place finish in the male 9–10 age category and Ezron Quashie, who swam in the boys 11-12 age category, secured the gold medal in the 800m freestyle, underscoring early skill development among younger swimmers.
“The surge in medals and personal best times reflected not only improved speed and technique but also greater race confidence and tactical awareness among the swimmers,” the club said.
Coaches Josel Williams and Elise Quashie emphasised that the club’s primary goal remains building each member as a swimmer and as a person.
“We set out to develop stronger, smarter, and more confident athletes. When we focus on individual progress — on perfecting starts, turns, pacing, and mental toughness –the team results follow naturally. This championship showed that our approach is working. We are building a culture where every swimmer improves.”
