Four schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will reopen on Wednesday, while two more will open next Monday, following an extended summer vacation.
The Ministry of Education announced at almost 8 p.m. on Sunday via Facebook that the majority of primary, secondary and technical-vocational institutions across the country will reopen today, as scheduled.
“Schools across the country are prepared to commence the new academic year, following an extensive programme of repair and maintenance works undertaken during the July-August school break,” the ministry said.
“At six institutions, additional maintenance works are being completed, and so adjusted reopening arrangements have been applied,” the social media post further stated.
The ministry announced that Brighton Methodist, Calder Government, Buccament Bay Secondary and Emmanuel High School Mesopotamia will open on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
However, students of St. Mary’s R.C. and Langley Park Government will have an additional week at home, returning to classes on Sept. 14.
Schools were initially scheduled to reopen on Aug. 31. However, the government announced in late July that they will open one week later, on Sept. 7.
