St. Vincent and the Grenadines is being represented at the regional finals of the Guinness Street Football Challenge in Jamaica by Mareyna Bar and Grill White Squall, a team from Calliaqua.

The two-day finals begin tomorrow, Saturday at Sabina Park in Jamaica and the winning team will take home US$5,000.

Mareyna Bar and Grill White Squall are made up of players Reginald “Puff” Payne, Shelly Williams, Dexter McCree, Jomo Brudy, Durwin “Ortega” Ross, Roddie Thompson and Kyle Peters.

The team won the local leg of the competition, which was held last Saturday at the National Tennis Centre in Villa and saw eight teams vying for the chance to represent SVG in Jamaica.

White Squall, which lost their first game by default because they did not have a full team at the beginning of the competition, played their way into the semi-finals where they defeated last year’s winner, Crew FC, during a penalty shootout.

They beat ECGC Ball Boys in the final encounter of the night and earned their spot, though controversially, in the regional finals.
