Team Athletics St. Vincent and the Grenadines (TASVG) hold its 2013 Awards Ceremony on Feb. 15 at Frenches House in Kingstown.
The theme for the ceremony will be “Rekindling hope in sport.”
Team Athletics SVG says this theme aptly reflects its thrust to establish and strengthen community-based clubs.
“This strategy will see TASVG working with other sporting disciplines to achieve this objective. The establishment of community based clubs will provide a ready support framework, reduce the competition for scarce resources, allow for a continuous feed from young persons within the community into the club and create a more robust and sustainable organization, hopefully from the demand push within the community,” it said in a release.
The feature speaker at this event is expected to be Ephraim Serrette, president of the National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad & Tobago.
The annual awards ceremony is the avenue through which TASVG recognizes and award its top performing athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and volunteers among others.
