The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) will hold an open forum on smoking, tobacco and other products in observance of World No Tobacco day.

Every year, on May 31, the World Health Organization and its partners mark World No Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

Tobacco kills nearly six million people each year, of which more than 600,000 are non-smokers who die from breathing second-hand smoke.

The forum will feature presentations by professionals both in and outside of the health field and there will also be a panel discussion.

The open forum will be held at the Methodist Church Hall on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The public is invited to be part of the discussion in order to raise awareness about the dangerous health effects of smoking and to join in the campaign against smoking.
