Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances that caused a home to be destroyed by fire at New Montrose shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Reports are that approximately 11:11 p.m., a 10-foot by 6-foot wooden home owned by Nigel Lyttle of New Montrose caught afire.

The contents and the house were destroyed. There was no loss of life or damage to other properties, police say.

It is reported that no one was at home at the time of the fire. However, the owner was not located.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
