A police officer and his girlfriend have been taken into custody in connection with the latest murder in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which occurred in Stubbs Friday night.
Dead is Augustus “Hatta” Dickson, who was shot and killed at his home.
Initial reports are that he was shot sometime after an argument with someone with whom he has a business arrangement.
Police sources have confirmed to iWitness News that they have taken into custody a police officer and his girlfriend in connection with the killing.
The sources, however, did not offer any addition details or theories about the killing.
The shocking development comes one week after police began investigating the murder of one of their own, who was shot and killed in an unrelated incident.
Police Constable Danroy Cozier, 26, of Mesopotamia, and his 19-year-old brother, Nicholas Cozier, where shot and killed last week Thursday, and their bodies dumped at Sion Hill Bay.
Former police officer Richard “Karib” Francis, a van driver of Layou, along with Kendine “Hoodie”/”Ants” Douglas, and Shemel “Jacket” Dunbar, both of Rillan Hill, have been charged with the brothers’ murder.
Both Francis and Douglas are also sons of ex-police officers.
Dickson’s death brings to four the number of persons murdered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this month.
His murder was the second in as many days, and brings the homicide tally this year to 11.
There were 40 homicides in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2016.
