Defending champions Country meets Town Outa Trouble 1 enhanced their chances of retaining their title after securing a place in the final of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T20 softball cricket competition last weekend.

They earned their place in the final after beating Street Fighters by 9 wickets in their semifinal showdown at the Richland Park Oval.

Street Fighters, who were asked to take first knock, were dismissed for 60 in 17.3 overs, with Sunil James 3/27 from 4 overs and Wesrick Straugh 2 for 3 from 4 overs doing the damage.

Country Meet town out ah Trouble 1 then replied with 64 for one from 9.5 overs with Saski Weekes 33* being the topscore.

In quarterfinal action on the weekend, Owia Young Strikers defeated Dr. Thomas Injectors by 38 runs to secure their berth in the semifinals.

Owia Young Strikers, batting first, reached 109 for 6 off 20, thanks to Hyron Shallow’s 59*, which included 3 sixes and 6fours.

Dr. Thomas Injectors were then dismissed for 71 in 19.1 overs with Zanroy Baptiste 3/7 and Hyron shallow 3/3 doing the damage.

In the second quarterfinal, former champions Gairy Construction Simple Boyz got the better of former titleholders, CGM Gallagher Novice, by 10 wickets.

CGM Gallagher Novice, batting first, reached 112 for 6 from 20 overs with Elton Williams 36, with 1 four and 4 sixes, leading the batting.

Gairy Construction Simple Boyz then raced to 117/0 from 11.1overs behind Jabari Cunningham’s 78* with 2 fours and 10 sixes and Stein Joseph’s 26*.

On Saturday, from 1:30 p.m., Gairy Construction Simple Boyz will meet Owia Young Strikers in the second semifinals, with the winners meeting Country meet town Out Ah Trouble 1 in the final on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. at the Richland Park Oval.

The third place play-off will see Street Fighters meeting the losers of the semifinal match between Gairy Construction Simple Boyz and Owia Young Strikers from 10 a.m. on Sunday.
