A tie for 9th position has resulted in 11 acts making it to the finals of the power soca catetory of the Soca Monarch competition, scheduled for July 9 at Victoria Park.
The finalists were selected from among 20 semi-finalists who competed in Kingstown Saturday night.
The artistes, who include some first time finalists, have won a chance to try to dethrone 10-time Soca Monarch winner, Delroy “Fireman” Hooper, who is celebrating 20 years in the industry.
The Carnival Development Corporation announced the finalists on its Facebook page Sunday morning.
They are Magikal, Caspa G, Dymez & Dapixel, Fonando, Zj Tuffa, Fya Empress, Keido, Kemmy, Scarbz, and Lola.
Meanwhile, in the Ragga segment of the competition, nine acts were selected to compete against the defending monarch, Fimba.
The nine are: Hance, Chewalee, Skarpyan, Fireman, Fya Empress, Dymez & Dapixel, Shady, Homey, and Cleo.
