The Dorsetshire Hill woman who was shot in the head by unknown assailant(s) Thursday night was in stable condition but unresponsive Friday morning.
Well-placed sources told iWitness News that the woman, Purlinea Greaves, was expected to undergo a CT scan at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital to ascertain the extent of her injury.
In the meantime, police are on the hunt for her attacker(s).
Reports are that Greaves was on her way home when she was attacked. Residents of her community reported hearing three loud explosions, presumably gunshots.
The apparent attempt on Greaves’ life has shocked the nation, which has recorded eight homicides, including two by police in the line of duty in six weeks.
The attack on Greaves has left many people wondering why she might have been targeted.
It comes less than a week after Altavea Billingy, 28, of Chester Cottage, died in hospital after being stabbed in the abdomen, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, Eldon Charles, 35, of Cedars.
Charles has been charged with murder in connection with Billingy’s death and has been remanded in custody until April for a preliminary inquiry.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded a record 42 homicides in 2022.
